Rice Cemetery

This photo was taken at a family cemetery near Varner, Arkansas (or what was once Varner). Varner's only population now are inmates at the Varner maximum security prison. Just up the road from there is the Cummins Unit.

There's a house just next to this cemetery that my grandparent's lived in when my grandfather worked for the Department of Corrections (probably in the late 1960's).

The majority buried in this cemetery has the last name of Rice, but there are a few people with the name of Varner buried there as well.

Calvary Cemetery (Little Rock)

A friend and I were driving around Little Rock one day so I decided to snap a few cemetery pictures while we were out and about. These two were take at Calvary Cemetery (a Catholic cemetery) in Little Rock.

Photograph: MM Cohn mausoleum

This is the mausoleum of Mark M. Cohn, the founder of MM Cohn department stores based in Little Rock (the first store was founded in Arkadelphia, Arkansas). The chain was sold to a Ft. Worth based company (The Dunlap Company) in 1989 and eventually all the MM Cohn stores were closed by the end of 2007.

The mausoleum is in the Jewish section of Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock.
