Tyro Cemetery

Photo take at Tyro Cemetery in Lincoln County, Arkansas. This was taken in the old section of the cemetery where there is a canopy of cedar trees. The story is that the cedar trees marks unmarked graves. Also, there are a lot of Modern Woodmen of the World markers at this cemetery.

Scull Cemetery Photograph

So, I thought I would share a photograph I took about a year ago. Cemeteries have always fascinated me. Love looking through the old sections and finding those cemeteries that it seems time and people have forgotten. This image was taken at Scull Cemetery outside of Gillett, Arkansas where Arkansas Post is located. Arkansas Post was the first settlement in the Mississippi River Valley and was founded by the French settlers. It would later serve as the first state capitol of Arkansas until the capital was moved to Little Rock (you can read a full history here). I spent Sunday afternoon taking some photographs of this and a couple other cemeteries that were on my way home. This is a cemetery that has truly been forgotten. I love the coloring and shadows in this photograph.
